Alessandro Giacomini
About me
Past
I am Alessandro Giacomini, a video game enthusiast for as long as I can remember.
The first memory I have in relation to this wonderful world is me hiding behind the sofa, terrified by Crash Bandicoot's carnivorous plants, peeking at my Dad playing it.
Yet despite my fear, I was extremely fascinated by that marsupial spinning and jumping around with a smile on his face.
But what attracted me even more was the fact that there was a person in charge of that marsupial, and from there on I stopped being a spectator and became a videogamer.
This passion has always been very preponderant in my life, so much so that when we were asked in middle school what we wanted to be when we grew up, I replied that I wanted to be a video game 'inventor', and now it is time to fulfil this dream that has been in the drawer for too long.
Background
In 2022, I enrolled in the Game Programming course at Digital Bros Game Academy, as I have always enjoyed programming and have been a lab technician at a company that produces microprocessor control systems since 2017.
During the course I had the opportunity to collaborate with other students from the same course and from the Game Design course to develop first a Hypercasual Game with Unity and later, changing teams, to develop a type of game of my choice with Unreal Engine, which was in 3D, contained at least one complete level and was polish.
During this experience, being in small groups, I had the opportunity to approach the designer's work a little, which immediately attracted my interest given the versatility of what can be done and when it can be done.
For this reason, after completing the programming course, I decided to enrol in the design course.
Same formula as the programming course, with the difference that the second group project had a set theme (Survival), and the presence of personal assignments in order to teach us both how to create good documentation and how to navigate within the Unity and Unreal Engine editors.
Now
At the end of these two years I feel ready to start a new adventure, preferably as a general designer so that I can get my hands on different aspects during development, in case this role is not available I consider myself a very adaptable person.
After all, the best moment in a video game is when you first press 'New Game'!
